First Job Mela – With Training Sessions in Inter-Personal Skills for FEED Scholars

The Job Mela was organized at FEED, Hyderabad office for nearly 550 Scholars who were supported by our organizations in association with SDA another independent organization that supports deserving students. This event was for two days.

On the first day sessions were conducted to creating awareness and impart training in inter-personal skills, communication skills , the requirements of today's job market, the expectations of the corporate sector and how to give a successful interview.

The programme commenced with recitation of the Holy Quraan.

After the welcome speech by Rukhsana Parveen of SDA, Janab Ghiasuddin Babukhan, Managing Trustee, FEED, addressed the gathering. He informed that so far 18,500 students are given scholarships in this academic year and also said that FEED is planning to foster one lakh professionals in the next 10 years. He enquired about the aspirants of IAS and expressed his happiness to note that more than 30 students are interested to go for Civil Services. (List of these students He ensured these students that all required support will be provided to them. He wished that the scholars who are present in the hall came prepared for the Job Mela scheduled on 4th Feb and hoped that maximum number of scholars would get through the interviews.

Janab Khuddus of SDA introduced the Students development Association and gave a brief report on their activities through Power Point Presentation. Mr. Mohammed Shams, spoke on the subject "To day's Industry & Career Outlook for Professionals" and enlightened the students regarding the requirements of present job market. Mr. Babar Khan gave a detailed account of various options available to students after graduation and answered the queries of the students.

The Q&A session was conducted after tea break in which a number of students participated actively and the doubts of a number of students were cleared by all the panelists.

In the second session, after lunch, Janab Jamal Khan of Canada motivated the students and spoke briefly about the Character and Confidence building for young professionals. Mr. Promod Chandra Sekhar of TCS, in his detailed and brain storming speech described various aspects relating to a successful career through a number of examples and incidents and enlightened the students regarding the present day expectations of the interviewers.

Janab Zaheer Hussain of Bangalore gave a detailed account regarding preparation of effective resumes and also the tips to impress the interviewers. He, after answering the enquiries of the participants, conducted mock interviews and made the house to know about the common mistakes committed by them and gave details regarding the negative aspects in the interviews.

The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Mr. Ahmed Sayeed, Managing Trustee, HZCT.

On the second day was demarcated for placement process. Over 800 applicants including the 462 FEED scholars who attended the training session on the first day attended this event. The following companies participated in the Job Mels.

Results of the Job Mela:

Placement at TCS:

A list of 39 students ( 31 selected at this interview and 8 already selected by the company basing on the % of marks) selected by TCS was read out and they were advised to attend a briefing session at 3.00 p.m. Out of these students, 27 students attended this briefing session conducted in Unity Centre. The SDA volunteers explained that these students have to attend a computer on line examination of which the details were given to them by using the over head projector. The pattern of examination, the availability of study material, the dos and don'ts were clearly explained to them. All the students were familiar with computers except two girls, to whom the SDA people explained regarding operating the computer and made them to practice.

Students attended the written examination conducted by some of the above companies and also attended the interviews.

Placements at E2E Serwiz Solutions

E2E Serwiz Solutions, selected the candidates based on Group discussion followed by interview.

84 candidates short-listed by the company were in the final year of their graduation and will complete it by this academic year end. These candidates have been asked to complete their graduation and come for interview on 8th of May 2007, for interview.

12 Candidates who were already graduates were interviewed at the Mela itself. and 5 candidates have successfully faced the interview and were offered job at the company. They are to join the comnpany on 11th Feb-2008.
